Sometimes, when the condition of the existing concrete is up to a good enough standard to do so, honing or polishing of your concrete surface can be completed for a very professional appeal.
This is a procedure we provide to customers which is typically completed on concrete driveway and patio areas where the surface of the concrete is ground back several times to create a smooth surface with as much of the underlying aggregate as visible as possible. During the process a hardener is used to densify the surface of the concrete to make sure everything holds together better over time, then finally a full Poly Urethane coating is applied to protect all the hard work we have completed. The result is a more rustic, poor man’s “polish” but of course without the extensive cost of a full polishing service.
Being only a small business with limited equipment for this process, we limit the true polishing size of projects to patios, garages and entertaining areas. This process involves densifying of the concrete through several passes of the grinders, firstly to reveal the required amount of aggregate, then of course right up to 800 grit polishing shoes to really make it all shine, then finishing off with Polyurethane coatings to again, protect all of our hard work.
This is an option we provide for our clients that we have plenty of experience in, yet only being a smaller part of our overall business scope of works. Next time you’re getting a quote from us, if your concrete is up to a standard we can work with, why not grab a price on top of your other prices, just for some food for thought.
